Riddick Bowe

Fox Sports reported that former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe was released from federal prison on

Monday, for good behavior, after serving one year and five months for kidnapping (his wife and children in

1998). Bowe will  basically be under house arrest until his sentence officially ends on June 8th.  The article

also stated that Bowe is currently in the best shape he has been in in 10 years according to his attorney.

 

 

BJ Penn Stripped of Welterweight Title

Just in case you haven't heard yet, the UFC has issued a press release regarding BJ Penn's signing with

K-1. The following is the press release as it appears on the UFC's website -

LAS VEGAS, NV, May 17, 2004…. Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship®, announced

that due to BJ Penn’s reported signing with the K-1 organization, Penn would no longer compete in UFC

events. Additionally, Penn’s actions have resulted in him being stripped of his title.

“I am looking forward to moving on and crowning a champion,” stated UFC president, Dana White.

An announcement will be made soon regarding who will compete for the welterweight championship.
