- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J Sullivan for the following recap and results:

A sell-out crowd of about 2,000 people came out to see Dale Apollo Cook's "The War to Settle the Score."

The 13 bout fight card was a killer show with 13 good fights and a crowd that was very loud (in a good way).

Special mention goes out to referee Kevin Nix for doing a great job. During the event, Dale Apollo Cook

announced his next show will be on November 11th (2006) at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma

featuring Apollo Super Heavyweight Mike "Ice Box" Jones (Jones was supposed to be on this card but his

bout with James Brown was cancelled). It was also announced that they would be using a cage instead of

a ring for the November 11th event.

Fight 1 - Mixed Rules Exhibition Match (2 rounds x 2 min)

Daniel Von Valkingburg wins by submission (arm bar) at 1:21 of the 2nd round over Levi Blue

The first round was amateur kickboxing with head gear and the second round was a submission match with

no striking. Both are Apollo fighters with Daniel from Tulsa and Levi from the Owasso training center.

Fight 2 - Jr. Middleweight Amateur Kickboxing (with head gear) Bout (3 rounds x 2 min)

Nathan Norris and Derrick Allgood battled to a draw

Crowd favorite Nathan "Nard" Norris (Freestyle fighter) and Derrick Allgood of Conteros Kickboxing threw

caution to the win and battled for three rounds - ending in an unpopular draw. Both fighters came out

swinging in the first round, disregarding defense, with both landing some decent shots. In the second round,

Allgood threw Norris down like it was a MMA fight so the referee stood them back up and restarted the bout -

The round ended with Allgood landing some great blows. In the third round, the crowd was going insane as

both were swinging for the fences. When it was all over and they announced the draw, the entire crowd

booed loudly.

Fight 3 - Light Heavyweight MMA Bout (3x2min)

Billy Stark wins by TKO (strikes) at 1:04 of the second round over Ken Hartley

Billy "The Joker" Stark (174 lbs. of Tulsa) beat Ken Hartley (173 lbs. of Joplin, MO) by referee stoppage due

to strikes. Starks dominated round one on the ground in an action packed round. The second round saw

Stark taking Hartley to the ground and immediately going to ground & pound until the ref stepped in to stop

it.

Fight 4 - Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Bout (3x2min)

Phillip Beckhan wins a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) over Brian Swartzenberg

Beckhan (Team Rouse) was a late replacement for Blake Nothsworthy. The first round was even action with

both doing well. In the second round, Swartzenberg was landing the better, harder shots. The third round was

action packed with both going for broke - Beckhan took the round because Swartzenberg was starting to

gas.

Fight 5 - MMA Bout (3x2min)

Josh Pulsifer wins by submission (guillotine choke) at 1:03 of the first round over Ben Burns

Tulsa Top Team fighter Josh Pulsifer (now 2-0, 155 lbs.) beat the 145 lb. Oklahoma fighter Ben Burns in just

over a minute by submission -  Pulsifer just took Burns down and dominated him until he got the guillotine

choke for the win.

Fight 6 - Middleweight Kickboxing Bout (3x2min)

Bradley Wooten wins a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) over Jack Rogers

Bradley Wooten (171 lbs.) out of the Hard Knocks Gym in Enid, Oklahoma defeated Apollo fighter Jack

Rogers (171 lbs.) by a three round decision. The first round was great as Wooten threw nice knees and

kicks but Rogers answered back with vicious knees and one was kind of low so he got a warning from the

referee. Wooten took control in the second round as he landed the better blows. The third round was an

absolute slug-fest with both fighters still full of energy - At the end, Wooten started throwing good knees to

the head. Wooten was originally scheduled to fight Team Rouse fighter JR Cunningham.

Fight 7 - MMA Bout (3x2min)

Demarco King wins a unanimous decision over Jeremy Bristow

Apollo fighter Demarco King (180 lbs.) won a three round unanimous decision over Jeremy Bristow (177 lbs.

of Tonkawa, OK). King had UFC veteran Mikey Burnett in his corner. The first round was fast paced and

intense with both giving it their all - They hit the ground a few times and the referee stood them up because

neither could muster any action. The action slowed in the second round as both looked to be getting tired.

In the third round, King started out landing good shots but Bristow took him down before the referee stood

them back up to a chorus of boos from the audience.

Fight 8 - Exhibition Submission Match (2x2min)

Thomas Longacre vs. Scott Kerns ended in a draw

Apollo fighter and town favorite kickboxer Thomas "Thunderkick" Longacre went to a draw with Scott Kerns

of Triton Close Combat. No real action in the first round with round two seeing Scott slam Longacre as he

went for a guillotine choke - Scott was controlling the match as he was on top but at the end, Longacre tried

a triangle as the match ended.

Fight 9 - Heavyweight MMA Bout (3x2min)

Matt Thornton wins by first round TKO over Robert Walker

Apollo fighter Matt "the Psycho Samoan" Thornton (211 lbs., now 2-2) beat the 300 lb. Robert "Big Daddy"

Walker (now 1-2 from Aurora, MO) with a TKO at the very end of the first round. Walker was a big boy who

kept taking Thornton down but couldn't do much once on the ground. At one point, the referee stopped the

match as Thornton landed an illegal elbow while on the ground. The round and match ended with Thornton

knocking Walker down and out with less then 10 seconds left. This fight was a rematch between the two as

the first bout ended in a disqualification.

Fight 10 - Heavyweight MMA Bout (3x2min)

Jeremy Combrink wins by submission at :37 of the first round over Robert Burris

Crowd favorite and Triton Close Combat of Tulsa fighter Jeremy Combrink (208 lbs., now 3-1) beat the 204 lb.

freestyle fighter Robert Burris (now 1-1 of Ponca City, OK) by first round tap out.

Fight 11 - Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Bout (3x2min)

David Vogtman wins by knockout at 1:19 of the first round over Clinton Bonds

Apollo fighter David "Masterkick" Vogtman knocked down the late replacement Bonds in the first round,

Bonds was able to beat the count - only to have Vogtman knock him out.

Fight 12 - Middleweight MMA Bout (3x2min)

Jason Brazeal wins by submission (rear naked choke) at 1:30 of the first round over Clayton Bush

Tulsa Top Team fighter Jason Brazeal (173 lbs., now 4-1) defeated Clayton Bush (now 0-2) of the Road

Warriors team out of Ft Smith, Ark. by first round submission - Brazeal slammed Bush down and took his

back, then got the rear naked choke. The fight actually started with them standing in a clinch until the

referee broke them up - then came the slam and the submission.

Fight 13 - Main Event: "The War To Settle The Score" MMA Bout (5x2min)

Andrew Flores wins a majority decision over Levi Schrock

The 142 lb. Andrew "Bubba" Flores (now 5-2) out of Sand Springs, Oklahoma defeated the 142 lb. ACA

fighter Levi "Slamking" Schrock of Tulsa (who is the Extreme Fight League Lightweight Champion) by a five

round majority decision. This was the fight of the night and the crowd was so pumped during the fight - You

couldn't ask for anything more out of these two fighters. Round one saw Schrock come out with a flying knee

that missed - then neither fighter did much to control the round. A fast paced second round saw Flores

knocking Schrock down. The referee stood them up and Schrock looked tentative for the rest of the round.

In the third round, Flores nailed Schrock to start but Schrock started nailing him back with some big shots

and nearly took him down to end the round. Flores knocked Schrock down again in the fourth but just let him

up. Once again, Schrock scored some big shots at the end of the round. Flores took Schrock down to start

the fifth but let him up again for some reason - It looked like Flores didn't want to engage on the ground...

perhaps he didn't want to take a chance at getting caught. Just an awesome fight.
