Thailand Welcomes MMA!
May 25, 2007
Bangla Stadium
Phuket, Thailand
With over 50,000 professional
Muay Thai fighters, Thailand has long been home to the tradition,
dedication,
and honor associated with
professional fighting. Until recently however, MMA has been almost
non-existent
in the birthplace of Muay
Thai.
Highlighted by the South East
Asian Grappling Games held in Bangkok Thailand earlier this year, Thailand
is
slowly introducing the sport
of MMA to millions of Muay Thai traditionalist. Working in conjunction
with the
Thailand Sports Commission,
Tiger Muay Thai training facility is set to promote an MMA bout May 25th
at
Bangla Stadium in Phuket
Thailand.
The upcoming fight will be the
islands 4th sanctioned MMA bout. Featuring Kickboxer Marko Huusansaari
of Finland against submission
wrestling protégé Johnny Kunstadter of the USA, the fight card will
also
showcase several of Thailand’s
top Muay Thai fighters competing in Muay Thai bouts. Serving as Referee of
the historic MMA match will be
Professional MMA fighter and former Kickdown Classic WW Champion Ray
Elbe.
Bangla Stadium in Phuket
Thailand has been welcoming MMA with open arms and will soon showcase
Thailand’s first official
exclusive MMA fight card.
