WBC Silver \ IBF Bantamweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Abner Mares (22-0-1, 13 KOs) wins a majority decision over Joseph Agbeko (28-3, 22 KOs) - Judges

scored the bout 113-113, 115-111, 115-111 for Mares - Mares retains WBC Silver title and wins IBF title

from Agbeko. Mares also wins Showtime's Bantamweight Tournament.

In the first round, Agbeko downed when he got hit with a left to the body just as he started to swing with a

left of his own (Agbeko over swung and lost his balance and went down into the ropes) - up quickly. In the

11th round, Agbeko got hit with a low blow but the ref counted it as a knockdown to Agbeko's dismay. After

the fight, the ref stated that when he saw the last knockdown live, he saw it as a clean punch to the belt

line....replay showed differently. Agbeko's corner stated they would protest the decision to the IBF (because

of the repeated low blows throughout the fight that were never penalized).
