The UFC announced that the current middleweight King of Pancrase Nathan Marquardt will face Ivan Salaverry on their August 6th Spike TV cablecast - "Ultimate Fight Night." Also, at UFC 54 on August 20th, Chuck Liddell will face Jeremy Horn and Randy Couture will face Mike Van Arsdale in the main events.

Round 1 - Both come out - Both attempt a kick, they clinch and separate - Carter lands two inside thigh kicks - they go back to the clinch - Carter lands a right hook to the face of Quarry - They separate - Carter lands a kick on Quarry - Quarry tries his own kick - Carter pushes Quarry against the cage - both tied-up against the cage - Both exchange knees - They separate - Carter attempts a spinning back fist and misses - Quarry comes in with and lands some punches - Carter goes against the cage - Quarry lands a front kick and a couplee of more punches - Carter goes down - Carter attempts a single leg - Quarry landing some elbows to Carter's head - Carter trying to take Quarry down with a single leg - They get to their knees - They stand-up against the cage - Quarry landing some punches and a couple of knees - Both exchange punches - Quarry lands a punch - Carter looks tired - Carter swinging and falls forward (maybe of exhaustion) - Ref comes in and stops the fights as Carter was getting up.

Round 1 - Both come to the center and touch gloves - Loiseau lands a spinning heel kick to the body - They clinch - McCarthy takes Loiseau down - Loiseau is in the sitting position against the cage - Loiseau tries to stand-up but McCarthy stops him - McCarthy mounts Loiseau - Loiseau turns and McCarthy tries to get his hooks in - McCarthy going for a rear naked choke - Loiseau defending the rear naked choke - McCarthy using his heel to landing some kicks to the inside thigh of Loiseau - Loiseau doing well at defending - McCarthy still trying to sink the rear naked choke - Loiseau remaining calm - Loiseau rolls over and McCarthy goes for an arm bar - Loiseau is now on top - Loiseau tries some hard elbows but misses - McCarthy tries for the arm bar but goes to full guard - Loiseau lands two good elbows - Loiseau still on top - they get stood up - Loiseau attempts a spinning heel kick but misses - Loiseau tries a round house that misses - They go to the ground and are in the north\south position - Loiseau landing punches to the side of the body - McCarthy goes to his back - Loiseau stands-up and the horn sounds to end the round.
Round 2 - Both come to the center - McCarthy attempts an overhand right - they clinch - Loiseau lands a knee - McCarthy pulls guard - Loiseau is able to get to half-guard - Loiseau landing some punches - Loiseau landing some good punches - McCarthy goes to all fours to avoid punches - McCarthy rolls over and gets full guard - Loiseau in McCarthy's full guard - ref stops the fight and stands them back up - Loiseau lands a straight jab - Loiseau lands a jumping knee - Loiseau lands a spinning back kick to mid-section that takes it out of McCarthy - Loiseau comes in with a knee and the ref stops the fight.
Nick Diaz wins by TKO (strikes) at 1:24 of the first round over Koji Oishi
Round 1 - Both come to the center - Oishi has an awkward hand position (hands are shoulder high and are held shoulder width with his chest fully exposed to Diaz) - Oishi comes in with some punches - Diaz steps back - Diaz lands a side-kick to the stomach - Diaz lands a left - Stuns Oishi - Diaz comes in with a side- kick - they clinch - Diaz lands a couple of knees - Diaz lands a left - Oishi lands a right - Diaz lands a left and a straight right that sends Oishi down - Diaz follows with punches and the ref steps in and stops the fight.
Paul Buentello wins by submission (guillotine\exhaustion) at 4:00 of the first round over Kevin Jordan
Round 1 - Both come out to the center of the ring, touch gloves - Buentello comes in with a left and then with a couple of uppercuts but doesn't land any - Jordan comes in with a kick to the mid-section and misses - both come in with punches and Jordan's punch lands and sends Buentello down to one knee - Buentello stands-up and as he stands, Jordan goes for a guillotine choke - Buentello counters with a couple of body shots - Buentello pulls out of guillotine - Buentello with his back to the cage - Buentello looks to have recovered - Jordan still pushing Buentello against the cage - Jordan lands a couple a punches to the mid- section, tries an uppercut but misses - Jordan attempts a couple of knees but misses - they pull apart - Jordan pushes Buentello across the ring throwing punches but none land - Jordan walks back a bit creating space - Jordan then goes forward to punch but Buentello lands a hard right sending Jordan down - Buentello has a full mount on Jordan - Jordan scrambles and gets the half guard - Jordan is able to push Buentello away and he gets up - both standing now - Jordan looks a little shaky - Jordan lands a kick to the mid- section - Buentello comes in with a few punches - Buentello lands a couple of uppercuts - Jordan counters with an overhand right - Buentello counters with his own overhand right - they clinch - Jordan attempts an uppercut - Buentello lands a knee - Jordan pushes Buentello against the cage - Jordan going for a single leg takedown - Buentello pushes him away - Buentello goes for a guillotine choke - Jordan pulls back and falls to his own back, kind of to the side - Buentello is holding on to the guillotine with one arm - Jordan taps.

Round 1 - Both come to the center and touch gloves - Mahood throws a jab and Griffin counters - Mahood goes for a kick and Griffin grabs it and takes Mahood down - Griffin lands in half-guard - Griffin throwing rabbit punches to the side trying to escape the half-guard - Mahood puts Griffin in the full-guard - Griffin throwing punches to the side of the body and to the face of Mahood - Griffin pushing Mahood against the cage - Mahood goes for an arm-bar - Griffin pulls away - Mahood on his back - Griffin comes down in side-mount - Mahood turns over and gets on all fours - Griffin gets the back and sinks in his hooks - Griffin goes for a rear naked choke - Griffin triangles Mahood's body with his legs to get leverage and starts cranking upward and Mahood taps - Griffin lets go and then hugs Mahood in same position (looked weird) as a gesture of a good fight.
